Construction Coordinator

Job Summary

​​​​​​ The Construction Coordinator generates, plans, directs, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of telecommunications construction employees. They are responsible for developing a process for completion of ongoing and potential projects and monitor and control projects by directing on-site foremen to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget.

Job Responsibilities
(Including, but not limited to):
  • Direct the work of foremen and crews, planning, organizing, and directing activities concerned with all jobs/projects.
    • Ensure work is performed in accordance with permit requirements.
    • Supervise multiple job sites during the course of a day.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications. Confer with supervisors and foremen to discuss such matters.
  • Represent company in project meetings with customers, vendors, managers, and staff and provide progress of work completed within project timeline.
  • Inform all subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes, change orders and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Work with Construction Manager to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with the customer.
  • Provide schedule, and project database updates, report regularly to Construction Manager to keep them constantly informed of job progress, plans and problems that could significantly affect costs or schedules.
  • Manager compliance with quality control and quality assurance standards and specifications.
  • Process of invoices and track job costs.
    • Maximize project profitability, identify project responsibilities, phases, and project plan lifecycle.
  • Maintain supplies and materials to complete each project.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff and clients.
  • Lead and maintain a safe work environment including safety meetings and documentation for safety compliance.
  • Ensure accuracy of time reporting for non-exempt/hourly employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
General
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple parties (Foreman, Field Engineer/Inspector, Co-Construction Coordinators, Construction Manager, Area Manager, Vice President, General Manager, Client, Subcontractors, etc.).
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams.
  • Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to travel.

Technical
  • Knowledge of experience telecommunications industry both aerial and underground construction including methods and specifications.
    • Fiber to the home experience is preferred.
  • Experience in conduit, fiber, manhole and hand hole placement.
  • Previous experience working from blueprints, and specifications.
    • Skilled in interpreting telecommunications construction drawings in hard copy and digital format.
    • Experienced in providing redline updates to construction plans.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation (backhoe, mini excavator, etc.).
  • Process invoicing and timesheet approval.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with locates along the Ohio Valley market.
  • GIS experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Valid CDL Class A License.

Locator

Full-time, non-exempt

Job Summary

The Locator position is responsible for pinpointing the paths of cables, pipes and other conduits that carry utilities underground. Locators’ efforts protect underground utilities from damage during projects involving excavation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for accurately and safely search for and marking underground utilities in a designated area.
    • Indicate utility locations through the utilization of paint and flags.
  • Complete necessary documentation regarding the marking and photographing of each locate.
  • Receive work tickets, open, document, close and provide follow-up summary of work.
  • Perform light excavation with shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
  • Respond to emergency calls, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications

General

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency to receive, open and close work tickets.
  • Ability to locate underground utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment (shovels, etc.).

Technical

  • Ability to use mapping tools and other location information along with locating equipment to locate underground utilities including telecommunications, electric power, gas, oil, water, sewer, and cable TV systems, telephone, correctly, safely, and efficiently.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions using information at hand.
  • Basic working capability with PC software skills including Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
  • Ability to communicate with various business contacts representing the organization and with customers/public.
